There are few things more devastating
to a child than living in fear. Far too often,
children are surrounded by the danger of
an abusive adult in their home. I know this
fear. I grew up in a violent household, where
my father abused my mother. Now, I want to
see to it that no other child has to go through
what I did. In this spirit my wife, Ali,
and I have established the Joe Torre Safe
At Home Foundation in memory of my mother,
Margaret, under the guiding principle that
everyone has the right to be safe at home.
